Principal-led electrical and mechanical engineering
ETEM Engineering is a Toronto-based consulting practice delivering electrical and mechanical engineering for buildings across Ontario — from capacity studies and permit drawings to construction support.
Who we are
We work with municipalities, school boards, building owners, developers, architects and industrial operators. Much of our work is in existing buildings — retrofits, service upgrades, equipment replacements and fit-outs — where the engineering has to start from what is actually on site, not from assumptions.
The practice is led by a Professional Engineer licensed in Ontario and Saskatchewan, with more than 15 years of engineering and project delivery experience in Canada and abroad. That range — from multi-site municipal programs to large international infrastructure — is what we bring to every project, whatever its size.
Why clients work with us
One accountable engineer
The engineer who reviews your building is the engineer who seals the drawings and answers the contractor's questions. Nothing is lost between handoffs.
Site conditions first
Existing services, as-built drawings, utility information and actual load data are reviewed before design begins, so the design basis reflects the building you have.
Electrical and mechanical, resolved together
Motor loads, controls, emergency power and plant-room space are settled in one design basis before tender, rather than discovered during construction.
Documents ready for review
Drawings and specifications are prepared for ESA plan review, municipal permits and tender, with clear code references and a scope contractors can price.

International background (principal's prior roles)
Before founding ETEM, the principal served in electrical project management roles on large international programs — including a wastewater treatment plant in Georgia, an international seaport and an Olympic village in Turkmenistan, and a mixed-use complex in Ankara with LEED Gold certification support. Across 5+ countries, these programs represent more than $8 billion in total project value. That background shapes how we manage scope, interfaces and commissioning on projects of every size.
